I was looking for some thing that said SPRING! I wanted a bit of bite so I figured it was time for some ginger beer and put Google to work. It came up with two fairly similar recipes: a Ginger Fizz and a Cilantro Lime Fizz. They both used gin, ginger beer, limes and cilantro and the only real difference was the 2 oz of gin and some Almond Extract in the Cilantro Lime Fizz. I decided to go for the lighter version.
Ingredients
- 1 oz gin
- 1 lime
- 4 sprigs fresh cilantro
- Ginger Beer
- Crushed ice
Instructions
First I muddled three or four cilantro sprigs with a slice of lime in a cocktail shaker. Then I added about 1/2 an ounce more fresh lemon juice, the gin and crushed ice. Shake vigorously and then I strained it into a glass and topped with ginger beer. A garnish of cilantro and lime wedge finished it off.
The verdict: 4 thumbs up. It needed a bit of a stir after adding the ginger beer but the combination of lime, ginger and cilantro was the very definition of refreshing. It would be fun to try this one with a full 2 oz of gin, but I predict that would be a dangerous, dangerous move. Delicious!
