Sometimes necessity is the mother of invention. In the case of our cocktail exploration, the fact that our liquor cabinet is currently overstocked with vodka became the driver behind today’s drink.
The Pierced Fuzzy Navel is an updated version of the (in)famous Fuzzy Navel the older members of the communopoly grew up with. At the instigation of the youngest member of the group — and with an eye to consuming some of that vodka — we decided to give it a try. Here’s the recipe we used:
• 1 oz peach schnapps
• 1 oz vodka
• 3 oz orange juice (unsweetened)
• grenadine (drizzled)
The verdict: Most of us liked it, but it is a big hit of booziness, especially when served in a short glass. A bit heady, but very drinkable. If we made it again, though, we might try a sweetened OJ. If you’re not a fan of grenadine, it is optional.
